Join our engineering team to help build Deltek’s next-generation, cloud-native Project Portfolio Management platform. This AI-first SaaS solution unifies project controls, including cost, schedule, and risk, into a single, modern experience.
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to real customer outcomes by working across the full application stack, from backend services and APIs to frontend experiences, databases, testing, and deployment. This is an AI-first full-stack engineering role where you are not limited to a specific technology layer. You will use AI-assisted and agentic development tools to move efficiently across the stack, take ownership of features end-to-end, and deliver working software from customer problem to production.
You will work closely with product, UX, QA, and engineering teams and use tools like Claude Code as part of a fully agentic development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of a cloud-native, microservices-based platform
- Design, develop, test, and enhance end-to-end features across the application stack, including APIs, backend services, UI components, databases, and automated workflows
- Work primarily with modern technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript, and related tools
- Use Claude Code and other AI-assisted engineering tools to plan, implement, test, review, troubleshoot, and improve software across the full stack
- Take ownership of assigned features from understanding customer requirements through design, implementation, testing, and delivery
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and quality-focused engineering practices
- Collaborate with product, UX, QA, and engineering teams to understand customer problems and deliver practical outcomes
- Identify opportunities to improve code quality, engineering processes, performance, reliability, and developer productivity
- 2–4 years of professional experience in software engineering or a related role
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot is required
- Experience building and working across full-stack applications, with the ability and willingness to work on backend, frontend, APIs, databases, testing, and other parts of the application as needed
- Good understanding of web applications, REST APIs, databases, software development fundamentals, and modern application architectures
- Exposure to JavaScript, React, and/or Python is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and ability to independently work through technical challenges
- Experience or interest in cloud technologies, modern SaaS architectures, and AI-driven development
- Hands-on experience using GenAI or AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, debugging, documentation, design, or other software engineering activities
- Interest in using an AI development lifecycle to turn customer problems into working software outcomes
- Learning Mindset: Eagerness to learn new technologies, frameworks, and AI-enabled engineering practices quickly
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment and communicate technical ideas clearly
AI-First Full-Stack Mindset
This role requires embracing an AI-first approach to full-stack software engineering. GenAI and agentic AI tools are essential collaborators, enabling you to work efficiently across the application stack rather than being limited to a specific technology or engineering layer.
You will use Claude Code as part of a fully agentic development lifecycle that supports planning, implementation, testing, review, documentation, and continuous improvement. AI should enable you to move across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, testing, and other areas of the stack while maintaining strong engineering standards.
The ideal candidate is someone who can take a customer problem and drive it through to a working solution across the stack. You may spend part of the day developing a Spring Boot API, then work on the React UI consuming that API, update the database model, add automated tests, troubleshoot an integration issue, or improve the deployment workflow. The expectation is not that you are an expert in every technology, but that you are comfortable learning and working across the stack and using AI to accelerate that journey.
We are looking for someone who approaches feature development by asking: “What customer problem are we solving, and how can AI help us deliver a better outcome faster and more responsibly?” This includes being comfortable with rapid AI tool evolution, willing to experiment with new development workflows, and committed to validating AI-generated work through strong engineering judgment.
